My newest granddaughter Erynni Adam’s says Merry Christmas and a HappyNew Year.

###########################################

I was born on November 29, 1943, Waverly NY.

My years up to about age 12 or 13 was spent in Spencer, NY.

Moved to Lowman in 56 and lived there throughout latter school years.

Just moved back to my Lowman home ( in 2008 ) that we built in 1976.

We lived in Plattsburgh, Peru, and Cortland about 20 years.

Married my wife Sandra in 1964.  Raised three kids two girls

(Tina and Elizabeth) and one boy ( Ronnie J ).

Four grandkids and two great grandkids so far.

When I was a teenager my dad and I owned a TV/radio repair shop. We had quite a bit of work. I remember sales tax coming into being at that time. It was just to support education and to be repealed after the shortcoming was fixed. Anyway taxes never cease to exist they just keep going up.

Worked in electronics distributing  Stack Electronics  then Elmira Electronics from around 64 or 65. I cannot remember exactly when.  Started my own electronics business in 68 and closed in June of 72 due to high water.

I suppose it was to work out ok in the grand scheme of things. I also learned one other important lesson. Prior to the flood of 72 my wife and I bought our first house in Wellsburg. We bought the house on a land contract and really did not realize that we didn’t really own the house. We put up our last dollar to buy the house and after the flood since the house was not ours we could not borrow any money against the property, since we were not the rightful owners. We owned a piece of paper.

None the less to say we lost our home and what capital we invested. Land contracts are for the seller and I question the value for the buyer. I suppose if things work out ok it can be a good deal.

Worked in telephone systems repair from around 73 or 74 to 95 maybe 96. The last company I worked for went bankrupt and closed.

I just heard on the news last night normally 4 million jobs cease to exist every month and supposely 4 million new jobs are created every month. Hmmmm.

Serviced copy machines several years.

In 1999 I went to work for NYSDOT in Albany, NY as a contract employee.  Came home to Cortland on weekends. Job was to analyze existing radio communications systems for next system upgrade to take place after year 2000 incident. It was like doing my ham radio hobby for a living. It was three year agreement and I completed term, and became a family caregiver until 2006 when I offically retired from making a living. Work no, living yes, money where?

I always liked and wanted to repair radios and televisions. How many repairmen are around today? What happened?

I still enjoy my ham radio, vibrating the molecules in the air to communicate with unknown others doing the same. Just for the love of radio. The mysterious force, unless you really understand how it works.

My Yaesu FT-847

1467

The Yaesu FT-847 changes base operation forever. Now you get three radios in one — HF, VHF/UHF and satellite. You get 100 watt output on HF and 6 Meters, plus 50 watts on both 2 Meters and 430 MHz bands. Additional features include:  Cross-band Full Duplex operation, Normal/Reverse Tracking, CTCSS/DCS Encode and Decode, 0.1 Hz tuning steps, DSP Notch, DSP NR and DSP BPF, Shuttle Jog Tuning Dial, Carry Handle and Keypad Entry. The FT-847 is also 1200/9600 bps Packet ready. 10.2 x 3.4 x 10.6 inches. With MH-31B8 hand mic.

I bought this radio in 1999 with the intention  of working the newest phase3 deep space amateur satellite of that era. Well, this never came to fruition, the satellite had a internal explosion rendering it mostly useless.  It’s 2009 and still waiting for Phase4 satellite, maybe someday if I last that long.  Anyway all is not lost the radio stills provides superior worldwide communication as a terrestrial transceiver, yet today.

My high school story that very few know about. Did you know I got kicked out of SHS for a short time?

I cannot remember if it was during my Sophomore or Junior year. I assume it was junior. I was taking a electric shop courses and we had to build projects at that time. So happened I was addicted to radio, especially transmitters way back then. Anyway I made a transmitter and most thought it was a joke. No siree. I knew what I was doing and the transmitter was transmitting. The microphone got passed around and crude remarks went over the air. Ha Ha, Hee Hee. So happens the thing worked better than I even expected It worked so well the transmissions were monitored by the FCC monitoring station in Canandiagua.

So who’s doing the transmitting. Yes, yours truly. A embarassment for the good old SHS.

I was taken before the VP and the Principal and I got some time off.   This left a sour taste in my mouth as well as the administrators. If there was any s… to pass around you can guess who caught it.

Anyway I cannot say I am sorry,  Sorry for what?  I was just a kid. You may guess what happened to me when my parents found out about this little incident.

Yep, I was a ‘goofy nerd’ back then and still is today. I love it.

Here it is 2009 and life takes us on a new journey. I am retired, but wife Sandra still in the job market and she (we) had some unsettling news. Her job was no longer in the hometown area of the Chemung Valley. We have our roots as well as our home there. So what to do?

The company she worked for offered her employment in Lorain County, Ohio. We did what  we have to do pick up and move. Talk about irony as I write this a song comes on the radio titled “Hit The Road Jack” and don’t you come back no more. Irony.

Its been nearly three months now, living in motels, rental house, under the bridge and I finally heard yesterday that we are about to become official BUCKEYES as soon as the swearing in and the papers to buy a real home are inked tomorrow 3/26/2009. whew.

From here on for a bit things are going to be a bit hectic. Car license’s, drivers license, and most of all a fishing license. Maybe a little moving of our stuff from New York to Ohio. Oh yeah, I still need to get my root canal finished back in Elmira.

Enough for now, riding along in my automobile, with my baby next to me, with no particular place to go. The night was warm and the moon was cold. Couldent get out of my seat belt. no particular place to go.
